Death Cafe
On Saturday, October 24, we will be hosting our very first death cafe. Drop in any time between 9am and 12pm for open conversation, free coffee, and some treats. There is no agenda, but there will be prompts available for those who might want a guide.
What is a death cafe?
At a death cafe, people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death.
The objective is ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’.
Death Cafes are always offered:
- On a not for profit basis
- In an accessible, respectful and confidential space
- With no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action

Advent Silent Retreat
Join us for a three-hour Advent retreat at the Holy Spirit Retreat Center! Advent Silent Saturday at the Holy Spirit Retreat Center is designed to help participants slow down and enter the Advent season through quiet reflection. The morning features alternating blocks of communal silent meditation, personal time for journaling or walking the tranquil grounds, and ends with Lectio Divina (contemplative scripture reflection). The event is free and open to everyone, with a brief introductory briefing provided for beginners.

Christmas Eve Service
Join us for a contemplative candlelight Christmas Eve service at Mission Hills at 5 PM! This will be a peaceful evening of carols, prayer, and reflection.
No Service
There is no service at Mission Hills on the final Sunday of the year.

Beach Service
Join us for our 11th Annual Beach Service at Zuma Beach in Malibu at 10:30 am! 🌊
We will have breakfast and coffee, followed by a short service, and time for us to enjoy the beach together.
Bring blankets or chairs, beach gear, and a beverage or snack to share!
We will be near the north end of Zuma Beach around Lifeguard Stand 15. There is free parking on Hwy 1 or paid parking in the lot. You can enter the lot on the south end and drive up.

Wild & Scenic Film Festival
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival inspires environmental activism and a love for nature through film.
Our third annual Wild & Scenic event will include 9 incredible films with several featuring local organizations and individuals.
Wild & Scenic shares an urgent call to action, encouraging festival-goers to learn more about what they can do to save our threatened planet. The On Tour Festival travels to around 110 events each year, partnering with groups working to protect and restore the important places in their communities. Wild & Scenic On Tour generates critical funds and increases awareness for grassroots environmental causes globally.

We are so excited for THIS Sunday’s second annual Storytelling Night!
Join us at 6pm to hear from Mission Hills’ very own. You will hear a mix of poetry, music, a live play, and plenty of good humor.
This is our community’s chance to reconnect during our summer break before we rejoin for weekly services starting back in September. We hope to see you there!

On Sunday, June 14th we welcome you to join us for a spectacular event! Tickets include brunch, drinks, and an amazing show. We will also have an outdoor market with local artists vending items to support San Fernando Valley Pride.
Tickets are $25 or 2 for $40. Ticket price includes admission AND breakfast tacos + mimosas 🍾🥂

Palm + Passion Sunday
This Sunday we will walk from Palm Sunday through Holy Saturday as we remember Jesus’ journey.
As always, our practice of communion is the central ritual that we anchor our time around. From our communion reading, we share:
“In the Eucharist, we remember the suffering of Christ.
The bread his broken body and the wine, his blood poured out.
In the mystery of communion, we practice uniting ourselves with Christ who suffered at the hands of Empire…We who take the bread and wine become one with the suffering of Christ as he becomes one with ours.”

2026 Los Angeles Homeless Count
Every January, we join LAHSA and our community to count our unhoused neighbors in Los Angeles so that everyone can receive the resources they need. Consider volunteering with us at Mission Hills on January 20 at 8 pm.
