5 Ways To Lower Your Environmental Impact

  1. Eat less meat & dairy or none at all!
Meat and dairy account for around 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions, according to the UN’s Food and Agricultural Organization. If the world is to meet its target of limiting warming to “well below” 2C, diet shift will be necessary, scientists say.

  2. Travel less by walking, biking, or carpooling! Calculate your carbon footprint to carbon offset your necessary travel and energy!

  3. Take political action by starting climate conversations, attending events, divesting your money from fossil fuels, voting, or organizing! Meeting your neighbors and learning how climate change impacts your community, state, and beyond are great ways to build solidarity and awareness for important environmental causes.

  4. Start a home garden or find a community garden! Growing a garden of any size can help us connect our bodies to the earth that sustains us and doing this with a community is even better!

  5. Buy less stuff/use less plastic! Our culture is consumer-driven and ads are all around us to purchase things we don’t need to live happy lives. When possible, borrow or buy second-hand items and opt for items that do not use plastic. Eating more whole fruits and vegetables (or growing some) can help reduce our plastic usage!
